Grants
The Department of Medical Affairs at Jazz Pharmaceuticals is pleased to announce the initiation of the Jazz Pharmaceuticals Fellowship Training Grant in Sleep Medicine. We are committed to helping advance the field of sleep medicine by supporting original research conducted by Fellows who are in training to become the next generation of sleep researchers and clinicians. We understand the difficulty in securing research support for fellowship trainees. To this end, Jazz Pharmaceuticals is launching a fellowship training grant program for trainees in accredited sleep training programs or complementary programs with an emphasis in sleep medicine. Applicants will be considered for one of four $50,000.00 grants, each for one year of support, to be awarded at the beginning of the 2008-2009 academic year. The work can be either clinical or basic science focused and use human or animal subjects, but should have clinical relevance and be primarily related to the field of sleep medicine. We expect the projects to be completed under an appropriate mentor in an accredited training program. Jazz Pharmaceuticals has assembled a Fellowship Grant Committee who will independently review all applications, and select the top four for funding. The Fellowship Grant Committee includes Thomas Roth, PhD (chair, Henry Ford Hospital), Dr. Emmanuel Mignot, MD, PhD (Stanford University), Antonio Culebras, MD (SUNY Upstate Medical University), Michael Bonnet, PhD (Wright State University), Janet Mullington, PhD (Harvard Medical School), Gary Richardson, MD (Henry Ford Hospital), David Rye, MD, PhD (Emory University), Helmut Schmidt, MD (Ohio Sleep Medicine Institute), Jonathan Schwartz, MD (University of Oklahoma), and Phyllis Zee, MD, PhD (Northwestern University). Update as of August 1, 2007 The application submission process is now closed. We are pleased to announce that over 35 eligible candidates have applied to this year’s program. The winners of the 2008 Jazz Pharmaceuticals Fellowship Training Grant in Sleep Medicine will be announced in January 2008. |
